Align text left or right, center text, or justify text on a page – Microsoft Support – Justify text

They all share one attribute, they both try to extend text all the way so that the left and right margin are “straight”. Exactly how that is done varies. Distributed stretches every thing out to fill the line. As soon as the sentence reaches the hyphenation margin the line is stretched out and words are wrapped to the next line or split using a hyphen.

Exactly how do you want to do your justification? You’re correct that the setting of the Spacing value in the Font dialog doesn’t reflect any adjustment made by the Justified property. I don’t think anyone at Microsoft anticipated that you would want to match the spacing of justified lines. The manual adjustment of the last line would be a guess-and-experiment operation each time. Another approach that might help in specific situations is to use manual hyphenation to reduce wide spacing to more “normal” spacing.

The fundamental problem is that Word is not, and was never intended to be, a desktop publishing program for fine typography.

Microsoft has no aspirations in that direction and probably never will — it doesn’t pay well enough to support the cost of development. Calligraphy, probably not, that’s true, but typography, we’ve come to expect… The issue arose on PowerPoint because it’s typically a ‘load’ of one-liners but that occasionally run over to two lines—and then it’s very noticeable, that the two lines do not match density….

Thanks, again. In reply to Rohn’s post on October 28, This site in other languages x. Distribute Vertically To center the objects vertically. To learn more about text wrapping, see Control text wrapping around objects. Tip: If you have several objects to position on a page, you might want to use a grid to help you. Select Align. To fine-tune the picture’s position, under Arrange , select Position , and then choose More Layout Options. I’ve tried copying the text to a blank document but this copies the problem to the new document.
